Enrolment and Duration
This course is delivered in two modes (as shown above), both modes have a 12-month enrolment period that includes both learning and assessment. Once you have registered your interest in enrolment, your suitability for participation will be assessed. This includes ensuring your language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) levels are at a sufficient to level to be successful in your learning journey (generally Year 11 level).
Study and assessment duration will be dependent on your existing skills and experience. Typically, to complete within 12 months, it is recommended that you commit approximately 10-15 hours towards study and assessment tasks per week over a 12-month period after your Workshop sessions. Additional hours for learning and/or assessment may be required if you are new to WHS or if you are not currently employed. FSA will provide you with a suggested unit progress plan.
Your enrolment will provide you with access to FSA’s learner portal for your learning activities and to submit your assessments. Following your Workshop sessions, FSA also supports all learners with Q&A sessions that are scheduled regularly and you will be able to attend these. Further support is available from our FSA trainers via email or by appointment.
It will be your responsibility to meet your course due date. An extension of 6 months is available on written request submitted to education@fsaus.com.au prior to the end of the initial 12-month enrolment period. If the extension request is not received, your enrolment will expire and may be deactivated. FSA reserves the right to cancel an enrolment after the initial enrolment period if you have not completed at least 50% of the qualifications’ assessments with no extension request received. Expired enrolments will be deactivated. Once an enrolment has been deactivated, re-enrolment will be required to recommence studies and a full new enrolment fee is payable unless an extenuating circumstance applies.
Assessment
Assessments are not conducted within the Workshop sessions, but are available through the learner portal. Through the FSA assessment model, competency is demonstrated through answering knowledge questions and completing workplace-based practical assessment tasks. These tasks may include the need to utilise workplace-based activities involving others or participate in role plays, which will need to be supported by video evidence uploaded to your learner portal. 3rd party reports may be considered on request.
You will also be expected to source and research additional materials as part of your learning.
Assessment activities are generally completed in 10-15 hours for each unit; however, this is dependent on the unit being attempted. Learner support is available via email or by appointment.
