  • Recognising the symptoms of anaphylaxis

  • How to use an adrenaline auto-injector (e.g., EpiPen)

Learning Outcomes

This is non-accredited training. On successful completion of the training students will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • Safety PPE and footwear
  • Sufficient language, literacy, digital and numeracy skills to complete the course

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a basic level of dexterity and mobility, mainly for handling an EpiPen and placing a casualty into the recovery position.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

  • Handle an EpiPen trainer, including removing the safety cap and simulating an injection.
  • Assist a casualty to use their own EpiPen if required.
  • Bend and kneel to place a casualty into the recovery position.
  • Dispose of simulated medical waste safely and clean the training area

Key overall physical demands:

  • Dexterity and grip – handling EpiPen correctly, removing safety cap, performing injection motion
  • Mobility – kneeling, stooping, and bending when placing casualty into recovery position
  • Manual handling – assisting casualty to roll into position, handling disposal equipment
  • Communication – giving clear verbal instructions during simulated emergency
  • Tolerance – kneeling on ground during practical scenarios
