Confined Space Entry Basic Training

WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE

Our nationally accredited confined space entry and gas testing training course is perfect for those who work in or around confined spaces where atmospheric testing is required. This course teaches you how to identify confined space hazards and work safely in such environments, you will also learn how to conduct gas testing and how to determine if an atmosphere is safe for work. This course includes many practical exercises and hands-on training.

This course is ideal for:

  • Workers who enter confined spaces
  • Personnel around hazardous material storage areas
  • Personnel in restricted / confined spaces or areas with dangerous goods
  • Supervisors and managers responsible for confined space operations
  • Safety personnel involved in confined space hazard assessments

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites:

N/A

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • USI
  • Fitness to participate
  • Safety footwear/long pants/long sleeves
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a high level of mobility and stamina, and the ability to work safely in confined, restricted, and potentially stressful environments.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

  • Wear PPE
  • Enter and work in confined spaces, which requires crawling, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Carry and operate gas detectors and small tools inside confined spaces.
  • Complete entry permits, risk assessments, and confined space documentation.
  • Exit quickly in an emergency while wearing PPE/BA.
  • Clean and stow equipment after use.

Key overall physical demands:

  • High physical demand – confined space entry with PPE
  • Mobility and agility – crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping in restricted areas
  • Manual handling – BA sets, harnesses, gas detectors, tools
  • Tolerance for heat, restricted ventilation, noise, and low visibility
  • Emergency readiness – ability to evacuate space quickly under simulated emergency
  • Dexterity – operating detectors, adjusting harness/BA, and completing permits
