Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites:

PUAFER006 Lead an emergency control organisation has the pre-requisite of PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation, which is included in the course. 

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • USI
  • Fitness to participate
  • Enclosed footwear, long pants, long sleeves
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a moderate level of mobility, strength, and stamina, and the ability to remain calm, communicate effectively, and lead others during simulated emergency scenarios.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

  • Walk through workplaces / buildings, including using stairs during inspections and evacuations
  • Stand and move for extended periods during evacuation drills and emergency simulations
  • Lift and carry fire extinguishers (up to approx. 9kg), use a fire blanket, and un-roll / re-wind a fire hose reel
  • Bend, stoop, and check emergency exits, alarms, and safety equipment
  • Direct and communicate clearly with others in simulated emergency situations
  • Assist, where safe, with mobility-impaired occupants during evacuation exercises
  • Complete reporting and documentation tasks after drills and audits

Key overall physical demands:

  • Mobility: walking through facilities, using stairs, and moving during evacuations
  • Strength and stamina: lifting/carrying extinguishers, operating hose reels, handling equipment
  • Dexterity: operating extinguishers, blankets, hose reels, and alarm systems
  • Standing and moving for extended periods during drills, inspections, and scenarios
  • Clear verbal communication to direct groups under simulated emergency stress
  • Light administrative/manual handling: writing reports, completing audits, handling documents
