Fire Safety Officer Training

• Understand the role & responsibilities of the fire safety adviser
• Fire safety adviser legislative & regulatory requirements
• Identify fire safety installations equipment in a building
• Develop an awareness & understanding of maintenance & records pertaining to fire safety
• Practical incident control & chief fire warden scenarios
• Understand the emergency planning process
• Understanding the role & responsibilities of Emergency Control Organisation(ECO) members and the Emergency Planning Committee (EPC)
• Practical fire extinguisher training

On successful completion of this program‚ participants will be awarded the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:

• PUAFER001 Identify‚ prevent and report potential facility emergency situations
• PUAFER002 Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented
• PUAFER003 Manage and monitor facility emergency procedures, equipment and other resources
• PUAFER004 Respond to facility emergencies
• PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
• PUAFER006 Lead an emergency control organisation
• PUAFER007 Manage an emergency control organisation
• PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility

Pre-requisites:

FSA Entry Requirements:

• USI
• Complete training suitability questionnaire and have sufficient language, literacy, digital and numeracy skills to complete the course
• Enclosed footwear, long pants, long sleeves

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a moderate level of mobility, strength and stamina, as well as confidence in communication and leadership under simulated emergency conditions.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

• Walk through workplaces / buildings, including stairs, during inspections and evacuation drills
• Stand and move for extended periods while coordinating evacuations and emergency scenarios
• Lift and operate fire extinguishers (up to approx. 9kg), use a fire blanket, and unroll / re-wing a hose reel
• Bend, stop and check exits, doors and fire safety equipment
• Direct and communicate clearly with groups of people during emergency exercises
• Complete reporting audits, and documentation after drills and sections

Key overall physical demands:

• Mobility and stamina for walking, standing, and conducting inspections/evacuations
• Manual handling of firefighting equipment (extinguishers ~9kg, hose reels, fire blankets)
• Stooping, bending, crouching during sweeps and equipment demonstrations
• Clear verbal communication and leadership under simulated emergency stress
• Light administrative/manual tasks – documentation, audits, EPC agendas, reporting
