Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden

Our combined Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden training aligns with the requirements of Australian Standard AS3745-2010 - Planning for emergencies in facilities. This nationally recognised course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform the roles and responsibilities of both Fire Warden and Chief Fire Warden within an Emergency Control Organisation.

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites

You must complete the Fire Warden module (PUAFER005) and provide evidence of this before you can attend the Chief Fire Warden module (PUAFER006).

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • USI
  • Fitness to participate
  • Enclosed footwear
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a moderate level of physical fitness, mobility, and stamina, as participants will take part in simulated emergency scenarios involving building inspections, communication of instructions, and coordination of evacuations.

To successfully complete this course, students must by physically able to:

  • Walk through workplaces and buildings, including climbing stairs as part of evacuation drills and inspections.
  • Stand and move for extended periods while coordinating or participating in emergency simulations.
  • Bend, stoop, and check emergency equipment, exits, and signage during safety sweeps.
  • Use communication tools and equipment such as radios, phones, alarms, and warden identification gear.
  • Direct, instruct, and communicate clearly with others during simulated emergency conditions, maintaining calm and authority.
  • Assist mobility-impaired occupants, where safe and appropriate to do so.
  • Complete basic reporting and documentation following drills or exercises.

Key overall physical demands:

  • Moderate mobility for walking, standing, and climbing stairs during drills or inspections
  • Stooping, bending, and operating doors or equipment during safety checks
  • Standing and moving for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for communication and emergency equipment
  • Clear verbal communication and voice projection under simulated emergency stress
