Global Wind Organisation Basic Safety Refresher TRAINING

The aim of this course is to refresh the knowledge and skills of currently accredited delegates for GWO basic safety training. On completion of this course, the delegate will be re-accredited for the next 24 months in accordance with GWO BST Standards.

  • Anatomy and Lifesaving first aid – primary survey – D-R-S-A-B-C-D
  • Secondary survey, first arrest systems, dropped objects
  • Fire science, classes of fire, types of extinguishers
  • Basic firefighting tactics
  • Emergency procedures and management of an incident
  • Scenario based training and rescue exercises

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the GWO BST Refresher training, participants will receive GWO Certificates of Attendance and a Statement of Attainment for the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites:

The GWO First Aid module consists of pre-course learning and assessment which participants are required to complete prior to their classroom session. Further details are provided upon booking/enrolment.

FSA / GWO Entry Requirements:

  • Evidence of completing the GWO Basic Safety Training within last 24 months
  • Winda ID (BST modules must show on Winda)
  • Fitness to Participate declaration, participants must be physically capable of wearing a harness and climbing a ladder safely, maintaining 3 points of contact
  • Long sleeves and long pants, appropriate safety footwear
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
