ABOUT THE COURSE

Our Low Voltage (LV) Rescue Training Course equips you with the skills needed to rescue a victim from a live LV panel using a LVR Kit, as well as perform CPR according to ARC Guidelines

  • Handing over to medical personnel
  • Placing and inspecting rescue equipment
  • Assessing and controlling hazards
  • Performing isolation procedures
  • Moving the victim or yourself to safety

Course Content

  • Assess the incident scene, conduct DRSABCD
  • CPR techniques / recovery position
  • Handover to medical personnel
  • Placement and inspection of rescue equipment
  • Assessing and controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
  • Isolation procedures where appropriate
  • Maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SAD’s) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
  • Involvement of external emergency services as appropriate
  • Practical demonstration of rescuing a person
  • Removing victim / self to safe location / place of safety

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this program, participants will be awarded the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live Low Voltage panel: OR
  • UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-Requisites:

To be awarded the (current) Unit of Competency: UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live Low Voltage panel, the below pre-requisites must be provided:

  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR (delivered as part of this program): AND
  • UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
    OR
    UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker

To be awarded the (superseded) Unit of Competency: UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel, the below pre-requisites must be provided:

  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR (delivered as part of this program)
  • Where the pre-requisite evidence, in the form of a Statement or Attainment or USI Transcript, is not provided, FSA will issue a Certificate of Attendance.

    FSA Entry Requirements:

    • HLTAID009 Provide CPR (delivered as part of this program): AND
      • A verifiable USI
      • Fitness level to participate which includes the ability to perform CPR on the floor (as per Assessment Conditions)
      • Enclosed footwear
      • Sufficient digital, language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
      • Provision of evidence meeting the unit of competency pre requisites, as listed above.
