Pre-requisites:

HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy requires HLTAID011 Provide first aid as a pre-requisite which is delivered and assessed as part of this course

FSA Entry Requirements:

• USI and fitness to participate
• The ability to perform CPR on the floor (this is an assessment condition)
• Enclosed footwear
• Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a moderate to high level of physical strength, stamina, and mobility, particularly for CPR, choking response, casualty management, and oxygen therapy tasks under simulated emergency conditions.

To successfully complete this course, participants must be physically able to:

• Perform CPR on adult, child, and infant manikins for a minimum of 2 minutes, including single and two-rescuer techniques
• Operate and maintain resuscitation and oxygen delivery equipment, including assembly, disassembly, cleaning, and storage
• Conduct primary and secondary casualty assessments (DRSABCD), including airway management and vital sign monitoring
• Kneel, bend, and move around a casualty positioned on the floor for extended periods
• Administer oxygen therapy using correct flow rates and equipment handling procedures
• Manage bleeding, fractures, burns, and medical emergencies through practical first aid responses
• Perform safe manual handling and casualty movement techniques, including the use of extraction devices and stretchers
• Apply and remove PPE such as gloves, masks, eyewear, and gowns while maintaining hygiene and infection control
• Communicate effectively with team members, emergency services, and casualties during simulated emergency incidents
• Accurately complete documentation, including casualty report forms and equipment maintenance logs

Key overall physical demands:

• Mobility and stamina to move between simulated scenes, kneel, crouch, and perform CPR for extended periods
• Upper-body strength and endurance to deliver consistent chest compressions and handle oxygen cylinders and resuscitation equipment
• Manual dexterity for connecting oxygen delivery devices and managing small medical components
• Visual acuity to read gauges, flow rates, and written documentation accurately
• Clear verbal communication for casualty handovers and participation in debriefings
