Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites:

  • Nil

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • Completion of the online learning module prior to face-to-face session is essential. Please note that if the online module is not completed beforehand, you will need to reschedule your session, and additional costs will apply.
 
  • Current relevant work role will be beneficial
  • Sufficient language, literacy, numeracy & digital skills to complete the course; students are expected to be able to research & analyse information and to apply knowledge in real world situations.
  • Access to computer and internet, with supporting technology such as MS word, internet browsers and email accounts.
  • Where delivered in virtual classroom, students will be expected to have connected webcam, microphone and speakers/headset.
  • USI that can be verified

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a low level of physical strength and mobility, with activities focused primarily on communication, observation, and interpersonal interaction rather than physical exertion.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

  • Sit for extended periods during online pre-course learning and classroom-based sessions
  • Read and interpret learning materials, scenarios, and assessment questions
  • Engage in verbal communication, including active listening, asking questions, and responding appropriately during discussions and role-play activities
  • Participate in simulated conversations and scenarios, which may involve standing, light movement within the classroom, and interacting with others
  • Observe behavioural cues and respond appropriately to individuals experiencing distress
  • Complete written or electronic assessment tasks, including short answers, reflections, or scenario-based responses

There are no requirements for heavy lifting, sustained physical exertion, or manual handling. While the course content addresses emotionally sensitive situations, physical demands are minimal. Learners should be able to manage basic classroom participation and communication tasks in a supportive learning environment.
