Physical Requirements:

This course requires a basic level of mobility, with most activities involving observation, communication, and documentation rather than heavy physical exertion.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

  • Walk through a workplace or site to identify hazards.
  • Bend or stoop occasionally to check equipment, signage, or conditions.
  • Complete documentation such as Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Take 5/SLAM cards, and hazard reports.
  • Take part in team discussions and communicate hazards and controls clearly.

Key overall physical demands

  • Walking and light mobility to carry out hazard inspections
  • Bending/stooping occasionally to check equipment, signage, or conditions
  • Light manual handling (e.g., documents, small signage, barriers)
  • Dexterity for writing, form completion, and hazard recording
  • Communication – verbal consultation and team discussions
  • Administrative tasks – JHA, Take 5/SLAM, hazard reports, risk documentation
