Santos Work Permit Procedure Training

• Applying for a permit
• Identifying the scope of the permit
• Preparing for the permitted work
• Working in accordance with an issued permit

On successful completion of this program, participants will be awarded the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:

• MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit

Pre-requisites:

Completion of Work Party Member (WPM) module, done on-line via the Santos portal. Must be completed and evidence provided PRIOR to course commencement. As per Santos - participants are unable to attend a Work Permit Procedure training course without having first completed the WPM module

FSA Entry Requirements:

• Language, literacy and numeracy requirements
• This unit may require the ability to read and correctly interpret complex P&ID’s; speak clearly and unambiguously in English; and to explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues.
• Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms
• Numeracy is required to the level of being able to correctly differentiate between high and low pressures and temperatures, voltages or masses

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a basic to moderate level of mobility, stamina, grip, and dexterity, with most tasks focused on theory and permit documentation, and one light–moderate lockout exercise.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

• Sit for classroom theory sessions and complete written or typed assessments.
• Read and complete permit documentation such as Hot Work, Cold Work, and Confined Space permits.
• Take part in a lockout exercise, which involves standing, bending, and applying/removing coloured isolation locks and tags.
• Participate in group discussions and consultation exercises.
• Complete short reports or hazard control forms.

Key overall physical demands:

• Mobility – walking/standing at assessment station, light bending and stooping for lockout task
• Grip and dexterity – handling multiple lock types, tags, keys, completing forms
• Stamina – sitting through extended theory assessments and discussions
• Communication – participating in discussions and consultations
• Tolerance – focus on administrative/legislative material for extended periods
