Under section 72 of the TAS WHS Act 2012, an employer, if requested, must allow an elected HSR to attend a HSR training course that is approved by the regulator (WorkSafe Tasmania) and chosen by the HSR in consultation with their employer. Fire & Safety Australia is approved by WorkSafe Tasmania to deliver the TAS HSR Initial 5 Day Training Course.

This course is ideal for:

  • Elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs)
  • Deputy HSRs
  • HSRs and Deputy HSRs under the WHS Act 2012
  • Individuals needing regulator-approved training

ABOUT THE COURSE

This Tasmania-specific course equips Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure workplace safety. It covers the WHS legislative framework, roles, and responsibilities, and practical applications of HSR powers.

Course Content

  • The WHS legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR.
  • Identifying key parties, legislative obligations and duties.
  • Understand the role, function and powers of a health and safety representative.
  • Undertaking the role of a health and safety representative within their work group including, participation in the resolution of work health and safety issues.
  • Issuing of Provisional Improvement Notices and directing cessation of unsafe work.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the training you will receive a Certificate of Attendance
