• USI
• Fitness to participate
• Enclosed footwear
• Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
• Ideally hold current construction induction card (White Card)

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a basic to moderate level of mobility, stamina, and situational awareness, with a strong emphasis on communication and concentration in high-risk environments.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

• Walk and stand for extended periods while observing vehicles and plant.
• Bend, stoop, and carry light equipment such as cones, bollards, tape, and signage (up to approx. 10kg).
• Use clear hand signals and radios while maintaining constant attention to moving vehicles.
• Wear PPE (hi-vis vest, helmet) and remain in safe positions when guiding vehicles.
• Communicate clearly with operators and work teams during simulations.
• Pack up and store equipment after exercises.

Key overall physical demands

• Mobility – walking, standing, bending, stooping during spotting and site setup
• Light to moderate manual handling – signage, bollards, cones, radios (generally <10kg)
• Upper body mobility – repeated use of hand signals while standing for extended periods
• Dexterity – handling radios, locks, tags, and completing documents
• Communication – clear verbal instructions, radio use, and signalling under pressure
• Situational awareness – sustained concentration in proximity to moving vehicles/plant
