FSA Launches Scania P500 6×6 Heavy Pumper Fire Truck

Fire and Safety Australia (FSA) is proud to introduce the latest addition to our Emergency Response Vehicle Fleet – the Scania P500 6×6 Aviation Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Heavy Pumper. This state-of-the-art fire appliance is purpose-built to meet the highest industry standards and will be operational for our Santos Emergency Response contract by January 2025.

A Powerful and Reliable Emergency Response Solution

Designed for aviation rescue and oil and gas emergency response, the Scania P500 6×6 ARFF boasts exceptional firefighting capabilities. It is ICAO ARFF Category 5 compliant and is engineered for rapid response in high-risk environments.

Key Specifications:

  • Water Capacity: 8,000 litres
  • Foam Capacity: 1,500 litres (B Class)
  • Dry Chemical Powder System: 225 kg
  • Pumping Capability: 4,000 litres per minute (LPM) at 1,000 Kpa
  • Monitor Output: 4,000 LPM (combined roof turret and bumper monitor)
  • Advanced ARFF Fire and Rescue Equipment Storage

Engineered for Maximum Performance

Built on a Scania P500 B6x6HZ Dual Cab Chassis, the appliance features an aviation green exterior with super singles for enhanced mobility. It is fitted with advanced fire suppression, rescue, and communication systems to support emergency personnel in demanding situations.

  • Hazard LED Lighting System (Red/Amber/Blue) for visibility
  • Powerful Warning and Siren System
  • LED Work/Scene Lights to enhance visibility in emergency conditions
  • Class 1A Lime/Red Reflective Decals for high visibility
  • Reverse Camera and Audible Alarm for safe manoeuvrability
  • Battery Charge / Jump Start Receptacle for reliability in emergencies

Advanced Firefighting Technology

The ARFF Roof Monitor has been upgraded to an Akron Trident (minimum 3,300 LPM), while the ARFF Bumper Monitor has been enhanced with a TFT Tornado (minimum 1,200 LPM). These high-capacity monitors ensure rapid and effective fire suppression.

Additional features include:

  • Underbody Foam Sprays and Windscreen Water Spray
  • Quickstow Ladder Gantry with a 7.65m Triple Extension Ladder
  • Integrated UHF CB Radio System for seamless communication

State-of-the-Art Pump System

The rear pump module features an aluminium body with Centurion roller shutters and LED locker lighting. The Waterous CXVT1250 ARFF Pump delivers a maximum flow rate of 4,500 LPM, supported by a water-cooled diesel engine.

Other key pump features include:

  • FoamPro Round-the-Pump Foam Proportioning System
  • Multiple water and foam delivery options
  • Electric Rewind Hose Reel with 60-meter lightweight booster hose
  • Comprehensive pump control panel with digital gauges and engagement controls

Optimised Storage and Safety Features

To ensure operational efficiency, the centre tank module includes dedicated compartments for water and Class A and B foam storage. Additional storage modules provide safe and accessible stowage for essential firefighting and emergency response equipment.

Key storage features include:

  • Dry Chemical Powder Extinguishing Skid with 225 kg powder capacity
  • Drop-down storage frame for easy refill at ground level
  • Rapid Intervention Equipment Storage
  • SCBA Seats installed in the rear cabin for firefighter safety
