Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites:

N/A

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • USI
  • Fitness to participate
  • The physical ability to perform CPR on the floor (this is an assessment condition)
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
  • Enclosed footwear

Physical Requirements:

This course requires a high level of upper body strength, stamina, and mobility, particularly for performing effective CPR compressions while kneeling on the floor.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to be physically able to:

  • Kneel on the floor to perform CPR on an adult manikin for at least 2 minutes.
  • Perform CPR on an infant manikin for at least 2 minutes.
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely during CPR.
  • Bend, stoop, and roll a casualty into the recovery position.
  • Resume CPR after simulated interruptions such as vomiting or regurgitation.
  • Complete a casualty report form after the scenario

Key overall physical demands:

  • High physical demand during adult CPR compressions (strength, stamina, endurance)
  • Manual handling – rolling casualty, managing airway, positioning
  • Mobility and agility – kneeling, bending, stooping repeatedly
  • Dexterity – AED operation, pad placement, rescue breathing
  • Tolerance – kneeling for extended periods, working under simulated stress
