Under section 72 of the ACT WHS Act 2011, an employer, if requested, must allow an elected HSR to attend a HSR training course that is approved by the regulator (WorkSafe ACT) and chosen by the HSR in consultation with their employer. Fire & Safety Australia is approved by WorkSafe ACT to deliver the ACT HSR Initial & Refresher Training Courses.

The ACT HSR Refresher course will refresh your knowledge and skills in Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, and update you on your role and responsibilities as a HSR, it will also provide you with the necessary skills to promote and maintain a safe working environment.

  • WHS legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR.
  • Key parties, legislative obligations and duties.
  • The role, function and powers of a health and safety representative.
  • The role of a health and safety representative within their work group including, participation in the resolution of work health and safety issues, issuing of Provisional Improvement Notices and directing cessation of unsafe work.

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-Requisites:

Photo ID must presented to the trainer at the commencement of the course, as per SafeWork ACT Conditions of Approval.

Evidence of completing the ACT HSR Initial 5 Day Training course

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
