ABOUT THE COURSE

This Low Voltage Rescue course equips you with the essential skills to safely rescue a victim from a live low voltage (LV) panel. You’ll learn how to assess the situation, use rescue equipment, and ensure the safety of everyone involved, including the victim and the rescuer.

  • How to assess the incident scene for hazards
  • Proper placement and inspection of rescue equipment
  • Techniques to control risks for rescuers, victims, and bystanders
  • Safe isolation procedures for live electrical panels
  • Maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SADs)

Course Content

Emergency procedures for the skills required to rescue a victim from a live LV panel encompassing:

  • Assess the incident scene
  • Placement and inspection of rescue equipment
  • Assessing and controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
  • Isolation procedures where appropriate
  • Maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SAD’s) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
  • Involvement of external emergency services as appropriate
  • Practical demonstration of rescuing a person
  • Removing victim / self to safe location / place of safety

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this program, participants will be awarded the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:

  • UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live Low Voltage panel

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-Requisites:

To be awarded the (current) Unit of Competency: UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live Low Voltage panel, the below pre-requisites must be provided

  • UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace (completed as pre-course ONLINE learning and assessment)

AND

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

 
Where the pre-requisite evidence for HLTAID009 in the form of a Statement or Attainment or USI Transcript is not provided, FSA will issue a Certificate of Attendance.

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • A verifiable USI
  • Enclosed footwear
  • Sufficient digital, language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
  • completion of e-learning module for UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • Provision of evidence meeting the unit of competency pre-requisites (HLTAID009), as listed above.
