Course Content

  • Receiving and reporting of wildfire details
  • Responding and proceeding to fire, location and access
  • Maintaining health and safety of self, other workers and people in the wildfire area
  • Anticipating and reacting to changing wildfire and weather behaviour
  • Undertaking dry wildfire control activity with the use of extinguishing media
  • Completing mop-up and patrol
  • Reading maps and navigation

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this program, participants will be awarded the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:

  • PUAFIR303 Suppress Wildfire

Prerequisites and Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites:

PUAFIR204 Respond to wildfire (or equivalent)

FSA Entry Requirements:

  • USI
  • Fitness to participate
  • HLTAID011 (or equivalent) Provide first aid
  • Fire rated PPE & footwear, head and eye protection, PLUS gloves (wildfire rated)
  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
Evidence of each participant holding the above competencies (PUAFIR204 & HLTAID011) must be provided prior to entry into the course
